Barcelona. Catalan Association of Biotechnology Companies (Catalonia BIO) is an initiative of business owners and entrepreneurs in the biotechnology industry, formed to bring together all the companies with interests in the sector which need a common platform so that they can participate constructively, efficiently and in an integrated manner in defining the industry’s framework for action and, especially, the stimulatory policies that the various agencies of the Catalan Government can outline. This enables political leaders and officials to enter into dialogue with a representative of the interests of the industry, through a business association. Catalonia Bio has also been acknowledged as a “innovative business group” by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce. The Secretariat General undertakes the association’s coordination, communication, administration and representation tasks in order to promote the industry and assist biotech businesses in their development and expansion.
